Despite the 10,000 signatures collected through our petition and the evidence of its positive impact on the quality of life and health for some people with cystic fibrosis, Québec new Health Minister, Danielle McCann, has endorsed the decision of the National Institute of Excellence in Health and Social Services (INESSS) to not recommend the reimbursement of ORKAMBI by the Régie de l'assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ).

This decision will have deadly consequences.

Tell the provincial government to do the right thing and grant access to ORKAMBI.

United for better access to medication

ORKAMBI has the potential to improve the lives of hundreds of Quebec residents living with cystic fibrosis. It should be available to everyone with cystic fibrosis who could benefit from it.

Chelsea and Alexis both have cystic fibrosis, a genetic disease for which there is no cure.

Thanks to her private insurance, Chelsea can benefit from this costly medication that improves her quality of life. Alexis is not as lucky, he can’t access it because the medication is not reimbursed by the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Quebec (RAMQ).

This is unfair and unacceptable.

They are not the only ones to experience this injustice: 570 Quebecers suffering from cystic fibrosis have been waiting for too long access to ORKAMBI, while their health deteriorates.

United in their common fight, Chelsea and Alexis ask you to help people with cystic fibrosis live longer, healthier lives.

Write to the Minister of Health and ask her to do the right thing for Quebecers with CF. Demand access to ORKAMBI for all who need it.

We demand better and equal access to medication!

Everyone in Quebec should have the right to access potentially life changing medication —people with cystic fibrosis are just like everybody else! I support Chelsea and Alexis in their fight.

People of quebec, join our fight!

Cystic Fibrosis Canada has supported families affected by this disease for nearly 60 years.

We will not give up and we will continue to demand that ORKAMBI be made available to everyone who could benefit from it. You can help. Send a letter to Minister McCann and urge her to do the right thing for Quebecers with cystic fibrosis. You can also help by donating to Cystic Fibrosis Canada so that we can continue to advocate for Canadians with CF.

The Régie de l'assurance maladie is one of the tools that Quebec has to ensure that all patients have equitable access to the treatments they require. People with cystic fibrosis are no exception!
